Physical Therapist, DPT

Christy Effendie-Peterson

Christy is a physical therapist who graduated with a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior from UC Davis and doctorate of physical therapy from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California. She is a former athletics communications director with over seven years of experience working in collegiate external affairs at all three NCAA levels.

She competed in Songahm and Olympic Taekwondo for nearly 15 years, including seeing UC Davis to gold at collegiate nationals for the black belt division. Her passion for sports rehabilitation grew after returning from two ACL reconstructions in college herself, and she now strives to serve other athletes going through injuries of their own to see success again in their respective fields. She has additionally cared for patients in the Burn ICU at the UC Davis Medical Center, assisting research on active therapy during recovery and developing her experience as a trauma-informed clinician.

Christy and her husband Kyle, a strength and conditioning coach, now live in El Dorado Hills with their rescue pup Cisco. As a Davis graduate, she loves cheering on the Aggies, along with the Sacramento Kings and Sacramento Republic FC.
