Matt is a physical therapist who brings over 23 years of experience working with clients recovering from orthopedic and sports-related injuries. He graduated with a B.S. in physiology from UC Davis and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from UC San Francisco. Matt holds certifications as a strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA, as a running coach through Chi Running, and has been certified as an Active Release Technique (ART) therapist for over 10 years. Through a combination of experience with clients and taking advantage of educational opportunities over the years, Matt continues to strive toward expanding his tool bag of techniques and ideas to help clients get back to what they love to do.
Matt grew up playing soccer, basketball and running track. Having quite a few injuries himself made him appreciate the power of physical therapy in helping people gain back the ability to pursue their passions and live life more fully. Figuring out how to get people back to what they love doing is a driving force in Matt’s professional career. He has participated in well over 100 running-type events including marathons, adventure triathlon races, urban “Amazing Race” style races and even a couple of ultra-marathons. He has been an invited speaker for numerous running groups and has been involved in the sports/orthopedic medical coverage for large events such as marathons and music festivals.
Matt, his wife Summer and their daughter live in Sacramento and love to spend time with extended family in the area. They enjoy taking trips to Lake Tahoe, rooting for the Kings, and taking on an escape room from time to time.
